WHAT'S THIS?

This project initiated by the Hungarian Youth Council (HYC) is a so-called summer university, focused on European Youth and European citizenship in the 21st century. It involves partners from Central Europe (Hungary, Slovakia and Romania of course). This project promotes young people’s European citizenship in particular, fosters understanding between young people in different countries, their cultural diversity, and promotes European cooperation in the youth field. The participants will be considered as European Parliament deputies, after being trained, they will organize a campaign and the selection as well. During the 10 days the aim is to create a European civic power. As there is a great need for meetings of students and politicians, there will be time and place for such actions. During the evenings there will be place and time for cultural events, every nation can present their specific characteristics.

The target groups of this project are the youth from Romania and other European countries aged between 15 and 30. Altogether 120 participants, out of these 15 roma youngsters. The duration of the project is 4 months.

The summer university will take place at Tusnádfürdő/Baile Tusnad (Harghita county), an ideal place for active recreation. Each day of the week there will be presented themes regarded to politics, by specialists in the field. In the afternoon the youth will be sorted in small groups for workshops.

The selection of the participants will be on the basis of an application, which will evaluate their anticipatory knowledge in this field, and also the practice related to one of the fields mentioned above. There will be edited brochures and mini-guides with informational and educational character, as well as promotional materials.

Due to this project participating youth will accumulate an extra knowledge, practical things from “made men”, they can share their own experiments with other participants freely, open-mindedly. Through these the participants will be able to form a clear opinion related to current issues of the contemporary society, and also urges them to be an active member of the society they live in.

The thematic concept of the project is based on a trilateral parteneriate, which offers the opportunity of collection of ideas on a European level, as well as experiences and methods from an international initiative in order to encourage youth participation. The aim is to implicate youngsters so that they will not be only simply participants, but also active members of the whole project.
